Point Hope Energy is addressing the growing worldwide demand for alternative energy. Our flagship product is biodiesel, part of a renewable fuels industry that continues to explode with opportunity. We will capitalize on the growth potential of biodiesel using our expertise in R&D, chemical manufacturing and commercialization to produce biodiesel. The feedstock used to make biodiesel will come from a wide variety of biomass sources including waste or recycled greases.
Why Biodiesel?
Biodiesel is a cleaner burning alternative fuel
produced from any oil-bearing biomass. Biomass contains no
petroleum and is a renewable resource. Biodiesel can be mixed
with petroleum diesel to create biodiesel blends to be used in most
diesel engines.

Simple to use with existing diesel engines and fuel distribution infrastructure.

Biodegradable, non toxic and free from sulfur and aromatics. Biodiesel emissions have roughly 45-90 percent lower toxic emissions compared to diesel.

Easily mixed with heating oil for home heat that burns cleaner and longer than heating oil alone.
Why Point Hope Biodiesel?
Our unique manufacturing process is designed to dramatically reduce the environmental footprint compared to conventional processes. Most biodiesel production today utilizes a liquid catalyst. This catalyst ends up as waste, or requires an expensive energy-intensive recovery process. Point Hope Energy is developing a unique process using a solid catalyst that does not contaminate the biodiesel, or the glycerin co-product. This process results in a safer process with less waste, lower energy costs, and purer glycerin.
The Point Hope Energy process is
also designed to be very scalable, allowing smaller, regional
facilities to have similar manufacturing efficiencies compared to larger
plants. By
implementing a regional business model, transportation costs
and associated emissions can be reduced compared to the centralized
plant model.
Finally, the Point Hope Energy process is being developed to handle a broader range of feedstocks and contaminants than the traditional processes. The availability of sustainable biomass feedstocks remains a significant limitation for the renewable fuel industry. The more flexible the manufacturing process, the less dependent it is on the pricing volatility of a single commodity.
While scalability, feedstock
flexibility and process simplicity are economic advantages in
developed countries, these characteristics are essential for success
in small communities in developing countries. Point Hope
