Point Hope Energy (PHE) incorporated in 2007 with ten founders committed to using renewable energy technology as a platform for improving communities around the world. A PHE survey of renewable energy technologies led to a conviction that biodiesel was one of the most promising and most versatile renewable fuels. However, commercial processing methods had several shortcomings that hampered biodiesel industry growth and profitability. After further study, PHE concluded that it was possible to overcome these current limitations by developing a completely different catalyst technology. By the middle of 2008, a world-class technical team had been assembled from the rich pool of chemical industry talent in MidMichigan. By the end of 2008 the team had successfully demonstrated its unique technology on a variety of biodiesel feedstocks. Point Hope Energy is now preparing to implement its patent-pending technology in a commercial biodiesel production facility.
