Point Hope Energy utilizes a solid catalyst technology.  Since the solid catalyst is confined to the reaction vessel, the glycerin byproduct is not contaminated with catalyst.  The resulting glycerin is easily separated from the biodiesel and can be directly sold as 99%+ technical grade glycerin without elaborate purification steps. 
This is significant process improvement when compared to the traditional process where liquid catalysts have to be separated from both the biodiesel and the glycerin.
